Mission Poem
A Mexico Mission trip has been an annual tradition at Eastminster Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. A group of volunteers spends a week in the desert border town of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico building a simple concrete stucco home. The family who will live in the house work and pray with the volunteers. An organization called Constructores para Cristo, Builders for Christ organizes the construction and coordinates arrangements for church volunteers from all over the United States. Unfortunately the program stopped several years ago due to increased drug trafficking violence. Fortunately for me, I had an opportunity to go on a couple of these mission trips before they stopped. Below is a poem describing some of my experience on my first trip.
